I read all theses books fast! At night when I went to bed I couldn't fall asleep . For the movie I didn't have any problems! My friends and I went to see the midnight showing. IT WAS SPECTACULAR!!

I think I stand with most when I say the book was better. Movie was great but with the book I felt like I became Katniss, unlike the movie where I felt I was just a part of her life. And especially since like someone else pointed out, it's not in first person...it's more third person which is less intimate. But that's just me.

The Hunger Games is an incredibly written series of books, combining a starkly beautiful writing style with the immediacy of first-person/present-tense. While the movie would never be able to fully capture the feeling of Katniss' perspective (and misses out on a few details and characters: Madge! Peeta's leg!), it does serve to fill in other parts of the story. Haymitch meeting with sponsors, the uprising in District 11, Seneca Crane and President Snow, and (perhaps most interesting) the actions of the Gamemakers in real time. The movie also gives us a necessary perspective of the Games, that of viewer. The reality show aspect of the series is so important that, inevitably, the movie was able to illustrate things that the book could not. In this way, I would compare it to another book/movie combo, that of Neil Gaiman's Stardust. Each media adds something to the other: I always say to read the book, then watch the movie (or if you've seen the movie first, to read the book and then watch the movie again). In the end, the book will always come first, but the movie (especially as it was so well done) is an important, and highly enjoyable addition to the canon. I still miss Madge, though.

I read the books first and then saw the movie in theatre. I think that both are great but I really loved the books. I love being able to recreate the images of the characters in my mind.

I'm personally a bigger fan of the books just because I can read it and experience it in my own time.

I liked the book more than the movie, the movie was great and stayed pretty close to the story line, but there's just something about reading a book and the story alive in your own way. There are also more details that are in the book that got left out of the movie.

It's close, but I think I preferred the book. I did really enjoy the movie though. While the shaky camera turned me off, I like how the movie was able to give more focus on the main characters and tell the story considering the time limits, and I loved the visuals of the Capitol. The book lets you see more into the thoughts and emotions though, and gives a greater understanding of the situation overall I think.
