Guiding the Masses Through the Apocalypse with a Cracked Moral Compass
Ask any random group of people if they think an apocalypse is coming our way, and the majority say yes. A hefty percentage will go so far as to say that it’s imminent. Some will be happy to give you a date. Some of them even think that zombies will be players in the global endgame.
So . . . what if they’re right? Not necessarily about the zombies—although let’s not rule it out—but right about a major event that overwhelmingly alters the world as we know it? It doesn’t matter if it’s a pandemic, a new Ice Age or other Earth changes, or a solar flare.
If that happens, the first thing we have to do is survive it. Sounds obvious, but it isn’t.
Most people are not physically, emotionally, or mentally prepared to survive the apocalypse. Most people have a hard time coping with an interruption of internet access or a dead cell phone, let alone the challenges of finding food and shelter during a total collapse of the infrastructure and in the presence of life-threatening dangers.
In recent years, in the face of hurricanes, earthquakes, and tsunamis, we’ve seen how quickly order breaks down. You may argue that we’ve also seen how quickly man rises to his better and braver nature and responds in extraordinary ways to rescue his fellow man. There are countless photos and videos of average citizens risking their lives to pull injured strangers out of collapsed buildings, from raging rivers, and off of flood-encircled rooftops.
