Our contributors from A Visitor’s Guide to Mystic Falls are writing guest posts for us all this season of The Vampire Diaries. We only have so many contributors, though– so this week, I’m filling in.
As usual, the latest episode of The Vampire Diaries burned through more plot twists than most shows do in a full season. (I love how TVD occasionally just decides, you know, we haven’t violated any television narrative norms lately. Let’s have Liz find out the Salvatore boys are vampires in the 5th episode of the season! Oh, and have Jeremy tell Tyler he knows he’s a werewolf right after they both find out instead of dragging it out until sweeps! Then we can have Caroline out herself to her mom! …

Once upon a time the people of Europe lived in fear of strange human-appearing monsters who came in the night to terrorize the community. These dread creatures were known by various names—the elves, the fae, the Fair Folk, the Sidhe.
Elves would creep into your home at night and steal your child, leaving one of their own inhuman spawn in its place.
