Posted April 2ndAfter a number of false starts (wood sculpture in my cubicle proved unwieldy, as well as distracting to my coworkers, and my experiments with Electronic Voice Phenomena may have caused the blackout that afflicted the office for two days—fortunately, no one but me seems to suspect this), I believe I have come up with the perfect activity to occupy my lunch hour—personally diverting, yet unlikely to cause consternation or even notice with others in the office.
I find myself intrigued by the connections between the characters on the television series Lost, particularly by the suggestions that seemingly random interactions between the characters—Sawyer’s fateful encounter with Jack’s father, the appearance on television of Hugo in the background talking about his lottery win, etc., etc.—will prove to have much larger significance as more is revealed.
I have therefore become curious as to whether there are any connections between the actors who play the characters. Perhaps some pattern will emerge that may enlighten me about the workings of Hollywood casting, or even hint at something larger (though I admit this is unlikely). Investigating this via my computer on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) should at worst prove harmless and will surely not take long—I foresee more lunch hours filled with games of FreeCell before the week is out.
It should have occurred to me at the outset that some of the more prolific actors had directly worked together. Matthew Fox (Lost’s Dr. Jack Shephard) starred in Party of …
