Lawrence Watt-Evans published his first novel The Lure of the Basilisk at age 24, and has since written more than 30 novels, more than 100 short stories, more than 150 published articles and contributed to several previous Smart Pop titles. He was a 1987 nominee for the Nebula Award for short story and a 1988 winner of the World Science Fiction Society’s Hugo Award for best short story. He has been a full-time writer and editor for more than 25 years, and has also worked as an instructor of Viable Paradise on Martha’s Vineyard, and at the Writer’s Center in Bethesda, Md.
